Anjou Villages
Clos de Coulaine

Nine-hectare vineyard, owned by the Roussier family, in Savennières. This vineyard has been under our care since the harvest of 1992.
Cabernet Franc, originating from Chinon, was first introduced at the estate of Domaine de Coulaine in 1942. The soil of the estate is more similar to that of the two neighbouring appellations, Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, where the sand lies on soft limestone, while in the Coulaine vineyard the sand lies on altered green and purple schist.
In the first case, the fruitiness and the freshness brought by the sandy soil blends with a fleshy character from the tufa stone. In the second, the altered schist brings body and a terroir character to this same fruitiness and freshness.
